You hear many different phrases when it comes to Alternative Healing. Soul Care, Energy Healing, Shadow Work, Guided Imagery, are among just a few. But what exactly is Alternative Therapy and Alternative Healing?
Alternative therapies, commonly known as complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), include many treatments that are not part of conventional Western medicine. These therapies can be used alongside standard medical treatments or independently. Examples are mindfulness, meditation, and reiki. Therefore Alternative Healing and Alternative Therapy is a process that uses these methods. It can be used as a stand alone treatment should you wish, but CAM therapy works also when everything is in harmony - like a well oiled machine. So whether that is using Reiki alongside your prescribed pain medication to control your pain and reactions to it, or if you use a Soul Care session that includes a guided imagery session at the same time as speaking with a Sleep Counsellor and taking herbal supplements - all this should work in harmony with each other and complement each other.

When we say "we are having therapy," it may be seen by some as admitting failure, as in "I can't do this anymore and therefore I need help." However, therapy is a form of treatment, much like a massage. Engaging in soul care therapy to help you relax and organize your thoughts is similar to getting a massage or a manicure. It is simply another treatment that assists in bringing out the best in you. Soul care involves supporting and restoring an individual as a whole—mind, body, and spirit. It can foster personal growth through healing practices, promoting relaxation, and providing guidance to integrate your mind, body, and spirit. This includes treatments such as Reiki, chakra cleansing, massage, and guided imagery. It is a process of cultivating daily routines and emotional well-being, nurturing meaningful relationships, and enhancing self-awareness. Ultimately, soul care improves overall well-being by mindfully focusing on the inner self. It is not always a quick journey but sometimes a slow exploration until you reach your own destination.
When we take the path of starting Soul Care we are acknowledging that we do not only need to care of our minds, but our body and our spirit also, it is a whole package. Taking time out in our ever increasingly busy lives to de-stress, relax and take a moment to listen to our own thoughts and be listened to is like a mini re-set. Taking an hour or two for yourself here and there is ok! We have to refill that battery now and again as we are constantly running on 'battery saving mode' otherwise and nothing is working on full capacity. Take a minute to look around you, see the small things, and see the beauty in what's around you - as my toddler grandson says when he finds a snail "it's beautiful isn't it", and if our children can stop and see the world, then we should too.
Have a wonderful day, and spring is on the way - stop and smell the flowers because you always have a minute for that.
